About Me

That’s me after getting my vaccine

Hi, my name is Gumaro. I am a Mexican physicist currently living in San Francisco and working at Fujitsu Research America developing quantum algorithms. I’ve also worked at Error Corp, Zapata AI and at Brookhaven National Lab.

During my PhD, my research focused on the simulation of Quantum Field Theories using Monte Carlo methods (classical computing) and subsequently (at Brookhaven National Lab) started working on tailoring quantum computing algorithms for the study of Quantum Field Theories.

At Zapata, my research focused on developing quantum algorithms that bridge the gap between the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era and the fault-tolerant quantum computers of the future, this, while preserving the optimal scaling with respect to relevant parameters.

During my brief stay at Error Corp, I managed to devise new algorithms for dynamical decoupling of qubits through pulse engineering. Through dynamical decoupling one performs gate operations on qubits while cancelling out error from unwanted interactions with the surroundings.

Currently, at FRA, I work on hybrid algorithms for quantum simulation of Hamiltonian evolution as well as hybrid algorithms for quantum signal processing.
